Welcome to The Wounds of the Zodiac, where we explore the past life aches of the astrological signs, houses, and planets through the lens of Karmic Astrology. This work is meant to help you unearth the shadows, reclaim your power, and become more fully you. I will be leaking my manuscript ‘The Wounds of the Zodiac’ slowly to you as a paid reader, uncut, raw, and unfiltered. I hope my body of work can help you liberate yourself in this life and the next.

The Wounds of the Zodiac move in a spectrum, from high to low and everywhere in between. Because of this, you may not experience all wounds that exist within one sign, house, or planet. You will carry your own experience and variation of the wound that you are working with in this life. For this reason, I ask that you not get too attached to something you may find here that does not resonate. What I mean is… don’t make yourself feel like you should experience a part of the wound, if you don’t already. Your specific karmic patterns are yours, and include more than just your birth chart — but also your soul contracts and personal lived karma and experiences. This work is meant to help you understand where you may be working with particular wounds and then begin to move through that wound, through the shadow, to raise your consciousness and become more whole. Over attachment to anything is never helpful. Let’s dive in.

Sadness by a Victorian artist, Julia Margaret Cameron who I found, and fell in love with, accidentally while searching for photos of Julia Cameron.

This is where I leak my manuscript ‘The Wounds of the Zodiac’. If you want to dig into the past life wounds of the signs, houses, and planets in the birth chart — consider becoming a paid subscriber to read this and more.

“People who have a creative side and do not live it out are most disagreeable clients. They make a mountain out of a molehill, fuss about unnecessary things, are too passionately in love with somebody who is not worth so much attention, and so on. There is a kind of floating charge of energy in them which is not attached to its right object and therefore tends to apply exaggerated dynamism to the wrong situation.” ―Marie-Louise von Franz, Shadow and Evil in Fairy Tales

So many people feel the desire to create, only to be stifled by their own fears of external judgement or desire for external validation. This is what stopped me from claiming the words “artist” and “writer” until only last year, my 35th trip around the sun, even though I’ve been creative since my first memories.

To know me, you’d have to understand that though I’ve been writing poems, lyrics, and stories since as far back as I can remember, though I’ve dreamed of being a singer and songwriter since those earliest memories, and though I spent most of my childhood in drama camps — I always felt like an imposter. I felt as if every other person who was in the arts was in fact an artist, while I was some foreigner in their word. I cringed when friends felt brave enough to sing publicly. I cringed when anyone felt brave enough to wear those titles — writer… artist…

I was in a full on denial of my own magick. Even as I wrote and sang songs that were played in mass stadiums like this, I felt like an imposter. Even when I wrote a novel back in 2014, (even if it still needs a lot of work to be anything of merit) — I still felt like an imposter.

Artist? Writer? Me?

Ouf. That was a hard one to claim.

A cluster of wounds in my chart ached at the level of rejection, judgement, and shame that came with letting myself be seen as a creative person in this world. It was a hell of a lot easier to be an intellect. Being an intellect got me constant approval from my family and from the outside world.

Being an creative? That was always met with statements like “you know it’s a one in a million shot, right?”, “I’ll believe it when I see it”, and “You know there’s no money in art, right?”

I remember starting to read the artists way last year and instantly thinking “Julia Cameron is here busting through big creative wounds in this life. She’s got to have big Leo/5th house wounds.” I quickly opened her chart — and though we don’t know her birth time — there they were, littered in her chart. Her potent body of work alive and well. She literally incarnated to heal the creative wound, and her body of work confirms it.

It’s almost unmistakable when I open a chart of someone who is actively working with, and struggling to allow their creativity in this life. There is always some sort of wound in Leo, the 5th house, and the with the Sun.

Though we do not know her birth time (I’ve used 12:00 AM just as a reference point) you’ll see in Julia Cameron’s chart below her Mars Retrograde, Saturn, Leo conjunction in Leo, which form squares to her Chiron and South Node in Scorpio, as well as her North Node and Ceres in Taurus. Her Leo placements alone tell me there are karmic wounds around her physical and psychological power, her mastery, and her authority. Her vitality and her worth is somehow linked to her creative expression, and was likely wounded in another life. Reclaiming her Leo qualities in this life would be one of the most important things she could do. Coming back to the creative work while releasing the need to be something special, the need for external validation, allowing herself to create for the simple desire to let the energy move through her would be a balm to her soul — to create from the heart. This is at the core of her work.

“To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.”

“We are more afraid of success than of failure. Success means we must move ahead into uncharted territory.”

― Julia Cameron

Her sun in Pisces Sun forms an almost exact Yod (Finger of God) with Neptune in Libra, and Pluto in Leo — a karmic frustration point showing where wounds can be funnelled if not met with love with one point always throwing us out of balance.

As much as I wish I knew what was in her 5th house, I can only imagine it’s of significance.

“Her memoir Floor Sample details her descent into alcoholism and drug addiction, which induced blackouts, paranoia and psychosis.” This description of her early life brings in Piscean themes which is often linked to addiction, as well as the paranoia and psychosis linked to Piscean, Neptunian, Scorpion, and Plutonian themes. All the themes tangles in her Yod. Her way out of this was through art.

“In 1978, reaching a point in her life when writing and drinking could no longer coexist, Cameron stopped abusing drugs and alcohol, and began teaching creative unblocking, eventually publishing the book based on her work: The Artist's Way.” She moved through the wound, into the Leo themes that could heal her by reclaiming her power in her artistic expression. Funny enough, the release valve for the Yod is found at her 10º Virgo Hekate, the mastery and discipline of the daily habits formed. In her book the Artist’s Way she commits to the daily devotional practice of the morning pages to keep the creative juices flowing, a very Virgo thing indeed.

It seems Julia’s South Node in Scorpio has been part of the creative alchemy she is working in this life, her mastery and ability to transmute creative power into peace through the creative force. Her North Node/Ceres square Saturn Retrograde in Leo conjunction could speak to the deep self care and daily rituals she uses in her work to stay committed to the task.

I’ve spoken about the artist, the creative spark, the performer and the mask a lot so far. These are all integral to this wound, and the place where the wound gets fractured first — along with the sense of self. To create from within the heart is one of the most vulnerable acts, right up there with loving deeply.
